(red spider) double division, 1-gal. size |
| Donated By Jim Comstock |
| Discription of 'Sabre Dance' from "Clivias" by Harold Koopowitz:
"Comstock has selected this spider for its well-disciplined shape. The narrow petals are only 3/4 inch(2cm) broad, but they are 3 inches(7.5 cm) long. The sepals are 1/2 inch(1.25 cm) wide. There is a clear separation between the tepals down to the base of the flower. Tepals are held rigidly in place without the rolling and twisting often seen in this type. Each flower is a rich orange-red with a small cream-colored throat. The umbel contains fifteen flowers in a globular cluster, and flowers are evenly spaced to display their distinctive shape. The peduncle is 22 inches (57 cm) tall, and the ball of flowers is held just above the foliage. Leaves arch slightly and are 30 inches (75 cm) long and quite narrow, measuring less than 1 3/4 inches (4.5 cm) in width. This is another robust plant that clumps readily." |
