| Harold's description from the book "Clivias" about
'Brown Eyed Girl':
"Bred by Doug McGavin of California, this resembles 'Jean Delphine' and is among the brown or terracotta clivias. The small florets are slightly more flaring than 'Jean Delphine', but the color is not quite as intense. Nevertheless the mixture of green and prange makes for rich brown tepals that contrast with a small but bright lime-green thoat. The florets barely measure 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter and are made up from rounded petals that are just over 1 inch (2.5 cm) in width and pointed sepals that measure 3/4 inch (2 cm) wide. The nine to eleven flowers are held in a flattish head on a short penduncle some 10 to 12 inches (25 to 31 cm) tall that in turn is among erect leaves 12 inches (31 cm) tall and 2 inches (5 cm) broad. The small flowers count and poorly held inflorescence can be forgiven in light of the unusual flower color." |
